Filling our text layers with Glitter

Here is where renaming all your layers comes in handy.  I want you to keep track of each layer and do each step the way I wrote it out.  That way, you don’t lose track of where you’re at.

X out layers B, C, 2 & 3.  Choose Layer 1 and make sure that Layer A is visible.

Select Pattern on your Material Palette and click on the box to open a selection box…  Choose the first of the three glitter patterns so your materials box looks like this.

With Layer 1 chosen in  the Layer Palette, click on Selection at the top of your screen.

Selection>Select All
Selection > Float
  Selections > Defloat

Your text will have  marching ants around it.

Click your Flood Fill tool and fill the text with the glitter pattern.

DO NOT DESELECT.

With the filled layer still active, add an inner bevel and a drop shadow.

Inner Bevel settings:

Drop Shadow Settings

Good… that’s done.  Use the same settings for all three layers of your name.

Do not deselect !

On the layer palette, right click on Layer 1 – Merge >  Merge Visible.

Rename Merged Layer to A1 ---( at a glance this will tell you which layers are merged together – it takes an extra moment to do this each time but it’s worth it when you get into multiple glitter layers later. )

X out Layer A1 and make Layer B and Layer 2 visible in the layer palette.
Select layer 2.

Open your materials palette and Select the 2nd of the purple glitter images.

Fill your text with the glitter, add your inner bevel and drop shadow with the same settings as you used on the first layer.

Layers > Merge Visible

Right click on the Merged layer in the palette and rename it to B2.

You now have 4 layers visible on the palette…

Hide Layer B2.  Unhide Layers C and 3.  Choose Layer 3.

Select the third glitter image for layer three, flood fill, add inner bevel and drop shadow using the same settings as before.

Merge the visible layers.  Rename the merged layer to C3.

Unhide all of your layers.  You will only see the top layer, but the others are there.

Save your file as a Paint Shop Pro image.  Name it Sharonglitter
.psp  or something easy to remember because by now you’re getting tired and it’s easy to lose things.
(That’s the way it is for me, anyway.)

Stand up, stretch, and cheer that you're on the home stretch!
