Making a brush from your ding. Brushes are fun and easy.

Open the copy of the original ding tube that you set aside earlier or refer back to the Corners tut.
In the Layer palette, click on the + in front of Vector 1 to expand it.
Double click on the Text Layer B to bring up the properties box.
Set your foreground color to #c0c0c0 (silver) and your background color to black.
In your Font bar on top, change the Stroke Width to 2.

The reason for the changes is that the resizing and the brush stroke itself will make you lose detail in the brush when you apply it. By chosing black and grey, you are creating a clean lined brush that will retain the details of the corner ding.
Right click on Vector 1 > Convert to Raster Layer
Selections > Select All
Selections > Float
Selections > Defloat
Image > Crop to Selection.
Resize your image to approximately 150 X 150 pixels.
Image > Greyscale
File > Export > Custom Brush

Give your brush a name and fill in the other blanks if you want.
I used the same framed image for both tuts. Open it in PSP.
Layers > New Raster Layer
Use the dropper tool to pick your foreground color from the dark frame. The final color will be a lighter/gold than the color you select.

Select the Paintbrush tool and click the dropdown box next to the example in the toolbar at the top of your screen.
Browse to your new brush. I named mine CornerDing -

Make sure you are working on the new raster layer.
Position your brush over the top left corner of the inside frames and stamp once with a right click.
Don't try to stamp more than once in the same place. It's too easy to smudge your brush if you do.

If your brush is too transparent, duplicate the layer until it's opaque enough but not completely void of details.
Hide the background layer by clicking on the eye behind Background (in your layer palette.)
(If you duplicated your brush layers: Layers > Merge visible)
In my example I did not duplicate the layer - it was opaque enough for what I wanted to do.
Layers > Duplicate
Image > Mirror
Layers > Merge Visible
Layers > Duplicate
Image > Flip

You will have a single layer with all 4 of your corners in place.
Add your inner bevel, this time with a little more subtle setting than the tube corners.

Unhide your bottom layer.
Sometimes, an inner bevel will make the brush corners a little more transparent.
If that happens, duplicate your corner layer until you are satisfied with it.
Add a water mark or signature to your image on a new layer.
Merge > Merge All > Flatten.
Resize your image to the size you want and export it as a jpg with a compression level of no more than 8.
File > Export > Jpg optimizer.
Compression Value of 8
Click OK.
Next Screen - Give your file a name and select where you want to save it.
Happy Dinging!
