This tutorial is fairly easy to do.
This does call for a plugin - but it's free and simple to use - with a direct link to the download. I already had it installed, so we've used it before.
When she says to choose your image, you want it to be a full image, not a tube. If you use a tube, flatten the layers and then promote background to a layer.

I changed my settings for the copper effect to the ones below. The changes she called for made it almost black in PSP
