We have been talking a little about plugins and filters.
Filters are on my mind so why not take this a step further and start making my own user defined filters?
I found a tut for this tool and played with it just a little - but did not choose the settings that the author used.
User Defined Filters
So, I opened my User Defined Filter screen, looked at all those numbers and columns and shook my head before I changed one number from a 0 to a 1. I thought, it's going to take all day to do anything with this. Then I changed a few values and thought that the changes were harsh and every one seemed to do the same thing as the other... I was not going to get anywhere fast changing one number at a time.. especially since I haven't the foggiest idea of what I'm doing.
I started rolling the dice to see if there was something I liked. I found one - a subtle grey emboss... Look at those numbers! Short of being a mathmatic genius, it's hard to know what any of them mean.

On the other hand, I discovered that somewhere along the line, I have installed someone else's presets and found a preset that I will enjoy using on future projects. I attached the preset - if you want to use it, move it to your Preset Folder in PSP.
Well, now I have something to work with... This preset is subtle and looks to be worthwhile so I will play with this and work from there. I like being able to do it my way, and make my own settings. I'm off to play with a new toy. This could be alot of fun now that I'm over the fear of those numbers.
Tool of the week Challenge.
Create and save a user defined filter. When you save it, use your name in the filter like vetch_grey_emboss. Apply it to an image of your choice and send the before and after jpg examples and the Preset script so we can use each others user defined preset filters.
