We've done ribbon several ways - from using page curl to basic tuts.  I found a tut today on making curled ribbon that uses only PSP, no vector layers (I knew that would bring a cheer!)  It takes a little work, but here's a couple samples of what I did with the tut.  His examples are lots better than mine, but this was to show you that it can be done.  This is from part one of 3 - and I am going to redo it a time or two... I used a larger size, my texture didn't work out right.
